Stop Making Sense 40th Anniversary Screening Tour with Jerry Harrison: A Celebration of Iconic Music History
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic concert film Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads, the band's keyboardist and guitarist Jerry Harrison will be hosting special screenings of the newly restored 4K version. These screenings will feature Harrison sharing introductory remarks, behind-the-scenes stories, and participating in a Q&A session with the audience. The screenings will begin on September 11 in Concord, New Hampshire, and will travel to various locations in California, Texas, and Florida before concluding on January 17 in Bellingham, Washington. Stop Making Sense, released in 1984, was filmed during three shows at Hollywood's Pantages Theatre in December 1983 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest concert films ever made. In 2021, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. The newly restored 4K version of Stop Making Sense premiered at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival, where the four members of Talking Heads - Harrison, David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, and Chris Frantz - reunited for the event. Following the premiere, the band hosted additional screenings of the film.
